Q1
Does
WebDemo support Windows XP?
A1
Yes.
WebDemo has been tested on Windows XP. WebDemo ConnectionPoint,
Host, and User all function properly.
Q2
What
browsers does WebDemo support?
A2
WebDemo
supports Internet Explorer versions 5.0 and above and Netscape
versions 4.7 and 4.77 only.
Q3
What
is the difference between a private and a public meeting?
A3
A
private meeting is a restricted by invitation only meeting.
A public meeting is open to anyone using either a WebDemo
logon or a Handle logon.
Q4
When
I logon using a handle, why can't I create a meeting?
A4
Handle
logons are only used to join public meetings and will not
allow you to access the other WebDemo features. To create
meetings you have to register with the WebDemo server and
logon using a valid WebDemo user account.
Q5
Why
can't I check the box for Display Session on the Connection
Point?
A5
The
advanced options in Connection Point require Java Virtual
Machine version 5.x. If you do not have this version then
you may download the most current version from Microsoft's
website.
Q6
How
do I know what version of Java Virtual Machine I am running?
A6
From
a Command Prompt, type "jview". The first test line should
have the version number.
Q7
When
I try to register or logon in WebDemo I get an Error 403:
Read Access Forbidden
A7
This
error occurs when Internet Information Service (IIS) is not
pointing to the correct Linktivity folder. To verify this
open IIS Control Panel. Expand the WebDemo Server tree by
clicking on the plus sign. Right click on Scripts then select
Properties. On the Virtual Directory tab, change the local
path to point to the Scripts folder. (Default: C:\Program
Files\Linktivity\Scripts)
Q8
My
WebDemo pages do not appear to be updating properly what can
I do?
A8
Try
clearing the cache and setting the browser to compare files
every time.
In
Netscape click on Edit, select preferences, expand Advanced;
click on Cache, under Document in Cache is compared to Document
on Network check Every time.
In
Internet Explorer click on Tools, select Internet Options,
click on the Settings button, Select to check for newer versions
of stored pages for every visit.
Q9
Why
don't the colors look the same in the Viewport on the Viewer
as they do on the Host?
A9
The
Viewport only transmits 256 colors. For best results set the
Host display for a higher resolution with 24-bit color or
higher.
Q10
I
turned on Voice Chat but no one can hear the Host.
A10
Make
sure the microphone is enabled in the Volume Control panel,
be sure that Mute is not checked and the volume is high enough
to be heard on the local speakers. Also, set the volume for
recording in the properties option. Test with Microsoft's
Sound recorder, if microphone does not work with the sound
recorder it will not work in Voice Chat
Q11
My
Voice Chat is distorted, what can I do to fix it?
A11
Try
turning off the Mic Gain (+20dB) in the Advanced settings
for the Microphone. If this still does not work, try updating
the sound drivers for your sound card.
Q12
When
I try to go Back a page I get a Data Missing Error in Netscape.
A12
This
happens when you use the Browser's Back button. In WebDemo
you need to use only the buttons and links within the WebDemo
frame.
Q13
Why
do I get the error: "You have not been logged in properly.
Please return to the main page and login." When I try to Add
a Contact in my Address Book?
A13
Netscape
will log you out of the WebDemo session if you resize the
Address Book window. If you are using large fonts and have
a WebDemo version older then 1.3 you can either change the
video settings to use small fonts or upgrade to the current
version of WebDemo to resolve this problem.
Note:
Due to the inherent nature of Netscape, we recommend that
you do not close, resize or reload your browser window during
a WebDemo Session. Doing so may cause you to exit the session.
Q14
Why
are the Users in the Attendee list losing their Viewport icons
during a WebDemo session?
A14
The
Host has a Watchdog feature that monitors the Viewport Cache.
Each change in the Viewport is cached until that computer
can catch up. If that computer's Viewport ceases to refresh,
the Watchdog counts the seconds where there is no response.
If the Viewport cannot respond within the specified time the
Host will turn off the Viewport for that Attendee. By default
the Watchdog is set for 30 seconds, if you have users with
slower connections you may need to increase the Watchdog settings.
Q15
When
I drag a window box during a meeting the box seems to tile
or trail as it is moved.
A15
This
is a Video issue. Usually this can be resolved by un-checking
the Visual Effects option to "Show window contents while dragging".
This option can be found in the display Properties of the
Effects tab.
Q16
I
already have a main web site; will WebDemo work as a secondary
site?
A16
Yes,
You can have more than one web site on a machine running Windows
2000 (Advanced Server or Server) or Windows NT (Server). Multiple
web sites are NOT available on Windows 2000 (Professional)
or Windows NT (Workstation).
Note:
See the chapter on Advanced WebDemo Installation in the WebDemo
manual for detailed instructions or Tech Note TN4929.
Q17
Can
I change WebDemo's ConnectionPoint to run on Port 80.
A17
Yes,
ConnectionPoint will run on Port 80. Install Version 1.5 and
choose Repair. Choose the Port 80 only option. Also See Tech
Note TN4895 for more details.
Q18
Will
WebDemo work on an NTFS drive with security?
A18
Yes,
WebDemo only requires that the WINNT and Linktivity folders
give full access rights to System, IWAM_servername and IUSER_servername.
