Q: What operating systems will the OmniView work with?
A: Just about any operating system that works off of a PS/2 platform. It will also work with Mac and Sun systems using the appropriate adapters (F1D080 for ADB Macs, F5U119 for USB Mac and F1D082 for Sun systems).

Q: What are the specs for the power supply?
A: 12 volts DC, 1A (1000mA) and the polarity is center pin positive.

Q: What are the hot key commands?
A: The hot key commands are a keyboard combination you can enter into the keyboard that will allow you to switch ports on the unit without pressing the button on the unit.

The command is as follows:
Press the Scroll Lock key twice until you hear a beep. Then press the number keys above the letter keys depending on which back and port you want to switch to. For instance, if you want to go to port 4 on the default bank 0 press Scroll Lock twice then 0 then 4. If you are cascading two or more units together and you want to go to port 6 on bank 1 then press Scroll Lock twice then 1 then 6.

Q: Will mice with wheels and extra buttons other than the Microsoft Intellimouse work?
A: Other mice with wheels and extra buttons such as Logitech and Kensington mice may lose the function of the wheel and extra buttons after switching ports. This is because the unit does not have emulation for these mice. The OmniView only has emulation for the Microsoft Intellimouse. If you like the feel of your other mouse you can still use it but it may only operate as a two-button mouse.

Q: I have a Netware 4.x machine and the keyboard is sometimes not detected or being dropped, how can I solve this?

A: Netware 4.x does not use a mouse so to solve this issue disconnect the mouse cable that is running from the Netware 4.x machine to the OmniView. This will leave just the keyboard and monitor cable connected and doing this will solve the keyboard problem.

Q: I am having problems with Video and/or mouse or keyboard, how can I solve this?
A: Please see our KVM General Troubleshooting section for more information.

Q: What is the proper way to cascade or daisy-chain units together?
A: Refer to the user manual for DIP switch settings to set the bank numbers. For the cable make sure from the first (master) unit that you run the cascade cable (F1D108-CBL) from the MASTER port on the master unit to the MASTER port on the MASTER to MASTER will cause the unit not to work.

Q: Can I use any straight through DB25 cable for cascading?
A: Yes you can but you may experience video problems if you do not use the actual cascade cable F1D108-CBL. A regular straight through cable may not be as high quality as the F1D108-CBL cable is.

Q: Can I cascade/daisy-chain other OmniViews models with this unit?
A: Yes, just make sure that whichever unit has the most ports is the master. For example, if you want to daisy-chain an 8-port and a 16-port together make sure the 16 port is the master.

Q: How can I reset the unit?
A: Press the bank scan and channel scan buttons on the front of the unit at the same time. You will hear a couple short beeps then a long beep. You can then let go and the unit should be reset.

Q: Why is my Dell Laptop unable to display video?
A: This is because by default most laptops are not setup to display external video.

You can fix this by doing the following:

After turning on the laptop you will need to enable external monitor support. This is done by holding down the “Fn” key and while holding it down press F8 once or twice. This enables both the external monitor and the internal laptop screen.
