Q: What operating systems will the OmniView work with?
A: Just about any operating system that works off of a PS/2 platform. It will also work with Mac and Sun systems using the appropriate adapters (F1D080 for ADB Macs, F5U119 for USB Mac and F1D082 for Sun systems).

Q: Will this unit support serial mice?
A: Yes, it has built in conversion. Refer to user manual on how to set that up.

Q: What are the specs for the power supply?
A: 9volts DC, 600mA and the polarity is center pin positive.

Q: What are the hot key commands?
A: The hot key commands are a keyboard combination you can enter into the keyboard that will allow you to switch ports on the unit without pressing the button on the unit.

The command is as follows:
Press and hold Ctrl-Alt-Shift then release, press the number key that is above the letter keys of the port you want to switch to, then press Enter.

Q: Will mice with wheels and extra buttons work?
A: Other mice with wheels and extra buttons such as Logitech and Kensington mice may lose the function of the wheel and extra buttons after switching ports. This is because the unit does not have emulation for these mice. It will work with the wheel functions of the Microsoft Intellimouse though. If you like the feel of your mouse you can still use it but it may only operate as a two-button mouse.

Q: I have a Netware 4.x machine and the keyboard is sometimes not detected or being dropped, how can I solve this?

A: Netware 4.x does not use a mouse so to solve this issue disconnect the mouse cable that is running from the Netware 4.x machine to the OmniView. This will leave just the keyboard and monitor cable connected and doing this will solve the keyboard problem.

Q: I am having problems with Video and/or mouse or keyboard, how can I solve this?
A: Please see our KVM General Troubleshooting section for more information.

Q: What is the proper way to cascade or daisy-chain units together?
A: Refer to the user manual for DIP switch settings to set the bank numbers. You will need a separate cable kit to cascade an OmniView Classic to an OmniView classic. To do this you run a cable kit from one of the ports on the unit to the console port on a different OmniView.

Q: Can I cascade/daisy-chain other OmniViews models with this unit?
A: Yes, but only other OmniView Classic models. OmniView SE and OmniView Pros cannot be cascaded or daisy-chained to this unit.
