| Office
monitoring: How it can be done |
|
Within an office today,
computers are most likely connected via an Ethernet
network, which is a Local Area Network (LAN).
A network camera is
a device connected to the network just like any other
device. It has its own IP address and is equipped with
a built-in Web server.

|
No additional software
is needed. All the necessary software is included in
the network camera.
Axis' network cameras
also give you many options, such as motion detection
and the ability to have two-way audio, which increases
your remote monitoring capabilities. See Options below.
|
You can place the
network camera anywhere. It measures only 10x15 cm (4x6
in). Attach it to your existing Ethernet network and
view live video on your PC.
Just use your standard
Web browser.
|
| A
simple 3-step process:
1. Mount the camera on the wall
and connect it to an Ethernet hub, just like you would
connect a computer to the network.
2. Assign a valid IP address to the camera.
3. Use a standard Web browser, e.g. Netscape or Internet
Explorer, to view the images on your PC.
|
| Options:
Axis' network cameras give you the
possibility to customize certain functions. For example,
you can set up the system to store images on the file
server in case of a triggered event using FTP over Ethernet.
Add an audio module to the network camera and you increase
your remote monitoring capabilities.
In addition to capturing images over
your corporate network, you can capture sound and speak
to unauthorized people trying to enter sensitive areas.
